Convicted killer to return to Samoa court

A man in Samoa who's been sentenced to life imprisonment for murder has been recalled to court.

Shane Kerisimasi of Luatunuu village was sentenced last month.

He'd earlier pleaded guilty to the charge.

Kerisimasi was sentenced before the court was aware of new sentencing provisions.

The Chief Justice Patu Falefatu Sapolu has asked both the prosecution and defence lawyers to find out the latest in order to determine eligibility for parole.

The matter will be called again next Monday.
