Apia christmas parade

Apia, SAMOA — As the clock counts down to Christmas, Apia was ablaze with the holiday spirit, courtesy of the festive 2023 Christmas Parade.

Beach Road, the heart of the city, throbbed with the excitement of the masses who had gathered to partake in the joyful occasion, their eyes twinkling brighter than the Christmas lights strung all around.

SAMOAN SANTA CLAUS SPREADS JOY

The star of the show was Santa Claus, who, with his team of helpers, brought joy to the faces of the children by handing out sweets and snacks from a float parade. The parade, a vibrant spectacle of colors and sounds, wound its way from Matautu to the Government Building, led by the melodious Samoa Police Band.

With Prime Minister Fiame Naomi Mataafa recovering from surgery in New Zealand, Acting Prime Minister Tuala Iosefo Ponafasio delivered the keynote address. His words emphasized the importance of family and unity in the season’s celebrations, highlighting the Samoan spirit of togetherness and community.

The event, organized by the Samoa Tourism Authority and the Samoa Fire and Emergency Services Authority, also featured the Samoa Rugby Club, recent gold medalists from the Pacific Games.

Diplomatic figures, such as the High Commissioner of Australia to Samoa, Emily Luck, were also present to share in the excitement. The event concluded with performances by various groups in front of the Government Building, cementing the communal spirit of the season.
