Local U.S. Marine meets up with Amata in Honduras

Tegucigalpa, HONDURAS — Congresswoman Aumua Amata in Honduras with U.S. Marine Corps Captain Anasitasia Ioane of Aua.  According to Amata, Anasitasia “is doing an amazing job serving our Nation. American Samoa is proud of her.”

Anasitasia is the daughter of Antonina and Maselino Ioane, “the famous shipwright whom I saw recently in Manu'a doing what he does best: building a boat,” said Amata. “He also has built many ‘alia and fautasi over years.”

Amata said it was “great” to see Anasitasia “standing at the airport to welcome us, along with her fellow Marines. Thank you for your service, Ana!”

Before leaving Honduras, Amata presented Anasitasia with her favorite ula “so she could have something to remind her of home. Looking forward to seeing her back home in our islands one day. Semper Fi all the day!!”
