Defending champs Fiji survive scare in day 2 of Hong Kong Sevens

Hong Kong suffered another agonising defeat in front of their home fans at the Hong Kong Sevens, while defending champs Fiji survived a scare on day two to move safely into the quarter-finals.

In the main event, after slumping to a shock 17-17 draw against Wales, the Olympic gold medallists Fiji managed a narrow 17-14 win over New Zealand in their final pool game to stay on course for the finals in a game they had to win to top the group.

It was relatively serene progression for the other favourites, though England were upset by Australia 12-10 in one of the day's best games.

Today's (Sunday in Hong Kong) quarter-finals, starting at 10:58, look like this:

Australia v Argentina

Fiji v Canada

USA v England

South Africa v New Zealand

The Qualifier tournament semis see Chile take on Germany, and Papua New Guinea v Spain.
