With Christmas falling on Thursday, ASG employees will enjoy a long holiday

Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — The Christmas season provides an opportunity to reflect upon the birth of Christ and the values of love, generosity, and service to others, the governor announced in a General Memorandum issued yesterday, Dec. 22, 2025.

In it, employees are encouraged to spend this time with family and loved ones, and to give thanks for the many blessings in their lives.

“Wednesday, December 24th, Thursday. December 25th, and Friday, December 26th, 2025, are hereby designated as official holidays in American Samoa.”

As per usual on a government holiday all government offices will be closed, and normal operations will be suspended. Employees of the American Samoa Government who are not required to perform essential services shall be excused from duty. Those employees whose duties are essential and are required to work on these holidays shall receive holiday compensation in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.

“I extend my sincere appreciation for your continued service and dedication to the people of our Territory. May this holiday season bring you peace, joy, and renewed strength for the year ahead. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays, Gov. Pulaalii Nikolao Pula wrote.

Government operations shall resume under normal business hours on Monday, December 29, 2025.

Samoa News will have an issue tomorrow, Dec. 24th Christmas Eve Day and we will be off for the Christmas holidays on Thursday, Dec. 25th and Friday, Dec. 26th, returning on Monday, Dec. 29th.
