Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — On September 9, 2025, a concerned mother called the Tafuna Police Substation (TPS) to report that her son had allegedly assaulted one of her tenants.
The suspect was later apprehended and charged with:

Count 2: Assault in the Third Degree, a class A misdemeanor punishable by imprisonment for up to one year, a fine not to exceed $1,000, or both; and,
Count 3: Property Damage in the Second Degree (DV), a class A misdemeanor punishable by imprisonment for up to one year, a fine not to exceed $1,000, or both.
The defendant’s bail was set at $1,000.
According to the court affidavit, on Sept 9th, at approximately 3:37 a.m., a woman (the reporter) contacted the TPS alleging that Stanley Napoleone (suspect) was intoxicated and was causing a disturbance,
She reported that he had also assaulted a woman (victim) while she was in the shower.
Police officers proceeded to the call, and when they arrived at the scene, they met with the reporter. The reporter relayed that the suspect, her son, resides with tenants occupying one of her rental houses, which is located adjacent to her residence. She stated that at around 3:00 a.m., she was awakened by the suspect yelling and shouting out profanities in Samoan outside of her house.
Upon exiting her residence, she observed the suspect in a “highly intoxicated state” and wearing only a towel wrapped around his waist.
She explained that as she proceeded further towards the rental house, she noticed several people gathered outside, who proceeded to inform her that her son had assaulted one of her tenants.
She contacted the TPS to report the incident, adding that the suspect had fled the scene upon realizing that the police had been called.
The officers went to the rental house, after interviewing the reporter, and were approached by the victim, who appeared to be in shock. The victim was interviewed and gave a statement.
According to the victim, at approximately 3:00 a.m., she woke up to get ready for work. She explained that the rental house only has one shower, which means they take turns to shower. As she showered, she heard someone knocking on the door while she was inside the shower, unclothed. The victim identified the suspect, the landlady’s son, as the one who had yelled from outside and demanded that she open the door.
Out of fear, the victim opened the shower door, which led to the suspect forcing his way inside and attacking her. She reported that the suspect pushed her to the ground and struck her approximately four times in the face.
She continued that she was able to push the suspect away eventually, and she fled the shower room. As she exited, the suspect kicked the shower door down before walking outside completely unclothed.
The victim continued that the suspect appeared to be highly intoxicated and was walking around the rental house unclothed.
He then proceeded to the kitchen area and punched the kitchen door, which left a hole in it.
The suspect then wrapped a towel around his waist and exited the residence while continuing to yell and shout out profanities.
The affidavit noted that no visible injuries were observed on the victim’s face. The victim was asked if she needed medical assistance, but she refused, stating she was okay and only wished to proceed to work.
After obtaining the victim’s statement, the officers canvassed the surrounding area in an attempt to locate the suspect. The officers also patrolled the area from Faleniu to Pavaiai; however, their efforts were unsuccessful.
While on their patrol, the officers received a call from the reporter, who stated that her son had returned to the scene. The officers immediately proceeded back to the location where they observed the suspect in a highly intoxicated state and standing in front of the rental house with a towel wrapped around his waist.
Stanley Napoleone was apprehended and transported to the TPS for further investigation. During apprehension, the authorities detected a strong odor of alcohol emitting from the suspect’s breath.
An investigation later revealed that the cost of the damaged doors was estimated to be more than $100.00.
The suspect was booked and confined at the Tafuna Correctional Facility to await the next available sitting of the District Court.
The defendant is identified as a 49-year-old unemployed man.
