Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — On August 6, 2025, a patrol unit observed a young man who was allegedly causing a disturbance by yelling out profanities and war cries (fa’aūum) non-stop in a public place, while trying to pick a fight with random by-standers.

The suspect was apprehended and later charged with Count 1: Private Peace Disturbance, a class B misdemeanor punishable by imprisonment for up to fifteen days, a fine of $500, or both imprisonment and fine.

The defendant’s bail was set at $500.

According to the court affidavit, on August 6th, at about 2:12 p.m., traffic officers approaching the Golf Course in Iliilil saw a man walking towards their unit and shouting out profanities and war cries (fa’aūmu) non-stop.

The officers immediately exited the police unit and apprehended the man, who was later identified as Faatau Kome.

Police allege that Kome appeared to be “really high on drugs". The suspect was transported into the Tafuna Police Substation for further investigation.

The officers also spoke to two witnesses and they both informed the officers that they were hanging out at the bus stop when Kome approached them and started yelling out profanities and also challenging them to a fist fight — which they refused.

Kome was booked at the Tafuna Correctional Facility to await the next available sitting of the District Court.

The defendant is identified as a 20-year-old U.S National.
