Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — On July 20, 2025, a woman walked into the Fagatogo Police Station and reported an alleged burglary at her home.
The suspect was later charged with:
Count 1: Trespass, a class B misdemeanor punishable by imprisonment for up to six months, a fine of $500, or both imprisonment and fine; and,
Count 2: Stealing, a class C felony punishable by imprisonment for not more than seven years, a fine of not more than $5,000, or both.
The defendant’s bail was set at $2,000.
Court records stated that on July 20th, at approximately 8:00 a.m, a victim of an alleged burglary walked into the FPS and reported that Jared Mageo (later identified as the suspect) took a fishing spear from her home.
The fishing spear was valued at $200.
It was also revealed that this was the second time the suspect has entered the victim’s property without permission.
The victim was interviewed and she verbally stated that she saw the suspect rummaging in her back yard through her surveillance camera — claiming that she saw the suspect take off with her husband’s fishing spear.
Moreover, the victim told authorities that she is worried about her two young daughters and her mother’s safety.
After the victim’s interview, the officers proceeded to search for the suspect but he was not found.
The affidavit does not state if he has since been arrested.
The defendant is identified as a 22-year-old U.S National.
