Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — On July 15, 2025, a concerned father contacted the police station and reported an incident regarding a man who allegedly broke into his daughter’s home and touched her while she was asleep with her husband.
The suspect was later charged with Count 1: Trespass, a class B misdemeanor punishable by a term of imprisonment for up to six months, a fine of $500, or both imprisonment and fine.
The defendant’s bail was set at $500.
Court records indicated that on July 15th, at approximately 8:58 a.m., a man (hereinafter reporter/victim’s father) regarding an incident that occurred on July 13th.
Authorities were dispatched to investigate the matter and upon arrival, they met up with the reporter, the victim and her husband.
The reporter told the officers that he had only recently been informed of the incident by his daughter and her husband which prompted him to contact the police.
The victim was interviewed and explained to the officers that the incident occurred at around 4:00 am on July 13, 2025. She reported that a man, identified as Mika Viliamu (hereinafter suspect), tore through the screen wire of their home and unlawfully entered the front window of their residence, made his way to their room, and while they were asleep touched her legs. At this time, her husband woke up and shouted at the suspect and threw bottles at him, which prompted Mr. Viliamu to flee the scene.
The victim also told the officers that she recognized the suspect because he is their next door neighbor.
Following the interview, the officers proceeded to the suspect’s residence and spoke with his family regarding his whereabouts. Family members informed the officers where the suspect was employed.
The officers proceeded to the suspect’s workplace and were able to interview him at his work place, having just finished his shift.
Viliamu during his interview admitted that he had broke into the couple’s residence through the back door. He claimed that he entered the home and called out to the occupants requesting cigarettes and when no one answered, he left the house and went home.
The suspect denied entering the bedroom or making any physical contact with the victim.
The affidavit does not state if Viliamu was arrested and detained after his interview.
