ASTCA names new CEO

Folasäitu Sorepa Fata Thomas

Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — The American Samoa Telecommunications Authority (ASTCA) has appointed Folasäitu Sorepa Fata Thomas as its new Chief Executive Officer, who after more than 25 years of honorable service in the United States Army, returns home to reaffirm her lifelong commitment to church, family, and community. Folasäitu will officially join the ASTCA team in September, following her retirement from the United States Army.

As a Chief Warrant Officer Four, she led both soldiers and civilians in logistics, procurement, fiscal management, and large-scale project execution. Her leadership role is defined by results, collaboration, and integrity, ASTCA said in a media release issued Thursday.

"ASTCA is entering an exciting phase, with major ongoing projects and plans for the future," said Avamua Dave Haleck, Chairman of the ASTCA Board. "Folasaitu's deep expertise, strategic mind- set, and commitment to service will help guide ASTCA into its next era of innovation and reliability for the people of American Samoa."

"I am humbled by the trust the Board has placed in me," said Folasãitu. "It is an honor to lead ASTCA at such a pivotal time. I look forward to working alongside our dedicated team to connect, empower, and serve."

Other ASTCA Board members are: Dave Haleck who is chairman, Alex Sene Jr., Andrew Berquist, Ella Gurr, Lewis Seau, Karen Satele, and Omar Shallout. ASTCA board members do not require Fono confirmation.

Her transition marks the beginning of a new chapter in public service, bringing decades of leadership experience home to serve the people of American Samoa.

Folasaitu is married to Mark Thomas of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and they are blessed with six children: Joseph, MJ, Margaret, Deserae, Denise, and Mark Jr..
