Washington, D.C. — Congresswoman Uifa’atali Amata is highlighting National Nurses Week (May 6-12) and National Nurses Day — as well as sending out special appreciation to teachers this Teacher Appreciation Week (May 5-9) and National Teacher Day, today, May 6.
“In the manner of Proverbs 17:22, our nurses’ cheerful hearts are part of their providing the community with needed professional medical care!
“This year, the American Nurses Association chose the theme, ‘the power of nurses.’ That’s a great way to think of our strong nurses, who work hard, spend long days on their feet, overcome challenges to help patients, and as the theme indicates, they have the power to make our entire health system better through their dedication and expertise.
“A special thank you to each one of you. Nurses demonstrate attentive care and kindness, often managing the pressure of heavy responsibilities. A nurse’s work is an important calling of love! The truth is we all depend on a nurse at some point in our lives, as will our loved ones, and we are thankful for their knowledge and training as we put trust in their efforts.
“God bless each nurse and your caring heart this National Nurses Week!”
THANK YOU, TEACHERS, FOR YOUR TIME AND ENERGY
Teaching is often a special lifelong calling. Every teacher has chosen a commendable path, and you are investing in the lives of our young people, yielding fruit for the entirety of their lives. Proverbs 22:6 emphasizes how important it is to start our children off well and in the right direction, so they will still be doing well in their older years, when they become the guides for future generations.
“The theme for National Teachers Day this year is ‘Empowering Educators: Strengthening Resilience, Building Sustainability.’ This is a timely theme, and I strongly support putting the most essential education resources first, strengthening the foundation of learning, by prioritizing our teachers and classrooms, then the facilities they need for resilience and sustainability.
“Thank you, Teachers, for your time and energy and ongoing study, as you show your caring through your classrooms. May God bless you, and your students through you!”
