Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — On the heels of Governor Pulaali’i Nikolau Pulu's Chief of Staff High Chief Taito Ali’itasi Afuola-Mauga resignation announcement on May 1, 2025, a new Chief of Staff has been appointed, according to a general memorandum from the Office of the Governor, dated May 2, 2025.
General memorandum 111- 25 names Mr. Leonard Seumanutafa as the new Chief of Staff.
It notes that “Leonard has 30 years of experience working for ASG, particularly as a key part of the leadership for Criminal Justice Planning Agency that has direct oversight of Department of Justice grant funding for several programs in our Territory.
“He has also participated in and steered several justice initiatives that date back numerous administrations, such as the Sexual Offender Registry Notification Act compliance program.”
Governor Pulaali’i concluded, “I am confident in Leonard’s abilities to meet the obligations and carry out the duties that this role requires.”
He urges all to give Chief of Staff Seumanutafa their fullest cooperation and support.
