Some lucky tax payers will get their refunds today, Friday, May 02

Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — With Mother’s Day just a little over a week away, shopping is in the air after ASG Treasurer Donald Kruse, in a media release, announced that tax refunds for batches 12-14 will be released and ready for pick up from the Disbursing Office today, Friday, May 2nd, 2025.

Individuals who filed on 02/10/2025 to partial of 02/14/2025, will be getting their refunds through direct deposits, the United Sates Post Office and pick up at the Disbursing Office in Utulei.

The Lemanu Administration’s Treasurer during a Senate hearing last year had said that he had been releasing tax refunds due to special requests, i.e. fa’alavelaves — saying it was his ‘love’ for the people that motivated him to answer their needs. At the time, there was a public uproar about tax refunds for 2023 still being outstanding for many.

Samoa News should point out once again, that the “unfairness” of early release of tax refunds is not a new issue, with the public often grumbling about delays.
