Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — There will be fewer than 3 weeks after the American Samoa Flag Day on April 17, 2025 (next week) that the Swains Island’s 100 year Anniversary of becoming a part of American Samoa, will be celebrated, May 13, 2025.
While awaiting final plans from ASG, the Swains Island community is starting preparations compiling original Swains Island songs dances and stories. They want to honor Swains Island’s rich history and their contributions to American Samoa and the United States over the past century.
Su’a Alexander Eli Jennings, Swains Island’s faipule, is humbly inviting “the Swains Island Community and all those who served (tautua) on Swains, both here and abroad, to please share original songs, dances, and stories to help keep our tradition alive, strengthen community ties, and celebrate our unique identity.”
“We will have our practices for those available at Lupe’s house near the new Faga’ima Mart for now, until after the American Samoa Flag Day. “
PRACTICE: THURSDAY, APRIL 10, 2025 AT 6 P.M.
For more information or if you want to be part of our preliminary preparations please contact Su’a Alex Jennings [email protected], Danielle Pualau [email protected], or Manino Reed at [email protected]. Or, call 272-8090.
