Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — Yesterday afternoon, Secretary of Samoan Affairs Fai’ivae Alex Godinet Iuli, with the NRCS, Pacific Islands Area Staff, and Land Grant staff brought three representatives of the NRCS and NACD (USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), the National Association of Conservation Districts (NACD) who were on island to meet with the American Samoa Soil and Water Conservation District Board (AS-SWCD), Land Grant and various other partners who are members of the AS-SWCD.
The NACD and NRCS Leadership and staff were here in American Samoa to clearly understand our unique local challenges and opportunities for conservation. They also wanted to learn from our AS-SWCD and partners our vision and identify efforts and opportunities that will best support the AS-SWCD in broadening conservation services and funding opportunities throughout American Samoa.
The Lt. Governor Pulu expressed, on behalf of the Governor and the people of American Samoa, his appreciation to the 3 representatives for their dedication and commitment in assisting with various programs to fund our ASCC-Agriculture, Community and Natural Resources Division (ACNR) and our local NRCS Pacific Islands Office.
Pulu assured them that American Samoa strongly supports the natural resources conservation on all lands, empower and support conservation models like the soil and water conservation districts, and provide conservation solutions to support sustainable food systems.
Gifts between Lt. Governor, NACD and NRCS were exchanged and photos taken.
