Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — The Lions Club of Pago Pago is proud to continue sponsorship of the Peace Poster Contest for American Samoa. Elementary schools all across the territory submitted their entries to the Lions in mid- October. The students depicted their interpretation of what “Peace without limits” means to them, in their beautiful artwork.
Judging was based on this year’s theme “Peace without Limits”, artistic merit and originality. After careful deliberation, they announced the winner for this year’s Peace Poster Contest — eighth grader Palinah Fitilagipupula Salanoa from Lupelele Elementary School in Iliiili.
Principal Lita Timoteo Manase along with the winner’s father, Palemia Salanoa, were all present at Lupelele for the prize- giving presented by Lion Joey and Lion Nora.
Palinah received a $200 cash prize and a Peace Poster certificate.
Lupelele elementary school, as the winning school, received $300 cash for art supplies for the students. The next round in the Peace Poster contest will be the regional contest where Palinah’s winning peace poster will represent American Samoa in New Zealand. If her peace poster is successful it will continue to compete until the final round in New York City. Congratulations again Palinah and best of luck in representing American Samoa.
The Lions Club of Pago Pago is also pleased to acknowledge the runners-up — 2nd place Feiloaiga Maiki (6th grade, Lupelele Elementary), 3rd place Katara Cha (8th grade, Samoa Baptist Academy), 4th place Skylar Montalbo (8th grade, Pacific Horizons) 5th place Joelei Ioane (7th grade, Samoa Baptist Academy).
