2024 AS Science Fair High School Overall Winners

Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — The overall winners of the 2024 American Samoa Science Fair High School division includes Amelia Chen, a 2-peat consecutive overall winner of the High School division. She will once again be representing American Samoa at the International Science and Engineering Fair in Los Angeles next month.

She won 3rd place in biochemistry at last year’s ISSF with her project that she has expanded on this year — the viability of algae biofuel farming in the Territory, working to replace diesel fuel. This year she offers a solution to a problem she found with algae abundance in the territory.

Ms. Chen is a junior at Pacific Horizons.
