Search and Rescue carried on in Vaitogi waters starting yesterday

Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — The DPS- Search & Rescue is currently searching for a male said to have been lost in Vaitogi waters. The search began yesterday morning after he was reported missing at sea. Divers were also part of the rescue mission. The search continued as of 4:30 p.m. yesterday afternoon.

Samoa News reached out to the family, but was asked to please honor their privacy. It also called the DPS- S&R for comment but there was no answer.

The weather has been bad and the US National Weather Service- Pago Pago has forecast thunderstorms and rough seas for yesterday through to Friday night, with excessive rainfall. “Gusty winds are possible within the thunderstorms,” it reports.
