Grant managers and admin take advantage of recent grant management workshop

GRANT MANAGEMENT WORKSHOP PARTICIPANTS

Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — The Department of the Interior funded grant management workshop was well attended drawing 140 direct recipients and sub-recipients registering for the one day in-person new grantee course at the ASCC Multipurpose Center on Monday, Oct. 30, 2023.

The Graduate School USA, in partnership with the Office of the Governor organized the comprehensive course that was specifically designed for grantees of federal funds, both in the capacity of direct recipients and sub-recipients. The target participants were individuals responsible for managing and administering grants that involved Federal Funds.

According to a press release from the Governor’s Office, the training program was structured as an intensive 8-hour course, providing participants with valuable and applicable knowledge. Upon successful completion, participants were awarded Continuing Professional Education credits, enhancing their professional credentials.

The curriculum was tailored to address the intricate facets of financial management requirements, procurement regulations, reporting obligations, and the critical closeout stipulations that governed the effective utilization of Federal Funds.

The orientation was conducted by Bob Adachi, a University of California, Berkeley Haas School of Business alumnus. He established a distinguished Federal career at the Internal Revenue Service and the Environmental Protection Agency Office of the Inspector General, excelling in various audit roles and receiving recognition such as the President’s Council for Integrity and Efficiency (PCIE) Awards for Excellence and the EPA Gold Medals.

Before 2015, Bob served as the Director of Forensic Audits at the EPA Office of Inspector General, instructing at different institutions and delivering speeches at various government events.

A total of 140 participants registered for the orientation.
