Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — Over thirty service members and their families took part in a Toa o Samoa town hall led by Gov. Lemanu P.S. Mauga in Hawaii on Oct. 20, 2023. In addition, retired service members were present, along with Papali’i Dr. Tusi Avegalio.
The town hall meeting offered a platform for service members, retirees, and their families to express their needs, concerns, and recommendations while receiving immediate and unfiltered feedback from Gov. Lemanu and his Chief of Staff Loa Tuimavave T. Laupola, and the ASG Hawaii Office director, Tuiafono Vaiuli Sua.
The discussions covered the range of medical services available to military families planning to move back home, opportunities for VA loans and land permits, potential options for recruitment into the military, and retirement prospects for servicemen and women.
The town hall meeting concluded with a photo op with the governor and further networking with the leadership to shed light to previously addressed questions and those still needing to be raised.
Service members, retirees, and their families were encouraged to seek support from the ASG HI office when needed and also to reach out to the Governor's office in American Samoa by contacting Chief of Staff Loa.
