StarKist employees sharpen their skills at ASCC

Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — They are not your regular college students. Pictured are employees of StarKist Samoa who have taken over the ASCC campus in the evenings since Oct. 2, 2023.

StarKist clerks, administrators, IT employees, electricians, security officers and fish cleaners are taking night courses to improve their skills thanks to an opportunity through the ASCC Trade & Technical and Computer Science departments.

All computer course tuition is funded by a grant from the Department of Interior’s Office of Insular Affairs (OIA). StarKist is paying tuition for their employees to take trade and technical courses in an effort to improve special skills for their local workforce.
