Police raid in Fagatogo nets three

FAGATOGO CENTRAL STATION

Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — Police raided a home at Fagatogo not far from the Central Station on Tuesday morning, July 11.

According to the Chief of Police (CoP) Pouuamea Supapo in an exclusive interview with Samoa News, authorities are holding a 20-year old male and his mother along with another female who were at the house during the time of the police raid.

“It was early Tuesday morning when police raided their house and taken into custody are the son and his mother and the other female.”

The CoP in response to questions from this reporter, said the mother and the other woman would most likely be appearing in court this week, while the son is being held pending further investigation.

In other developments, Supapo says police have discovered a connection between a string of breaks-ins around the town area and some of the cases under investigation involving minors.

The CoP says they’ve been able to solve most of the reported break-in cases in Fagatogo, and they are all linked to some minors in connection to one adult who is now in police custody.

Some of those places robbed include Western Union and The Market Place.

The two break-ins at the US Post Office Fagatogo have been solved locally, but she wouldn’t release any further information, saying the information must come from the court.

Not answered was the query about jurisdiction: the US Post Office is federal premises, and usually when there is a break-in or any type of crime committed on such property, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) would be the lead investigators.

In the meantime, police have in their possession various property from the robberies, but are not sure who the owners are.
