Washington, D.C. — Congresswoman Uifa’atali Amata is honoring the U.S. Army’s 248th birthday, which marks the founding of the U.S. Army on June 14, 1775.

“I wish a happy birthday to the United States Army, and all our soldiers,” said Congresswoman Amata. “Thank you to all currently serving along with all our many Army veterans, may God bless each of you. American Samoa is proud to have dedicated Service Members throughout the Armed Forces, but our highest rate of service is in the U.S. Army, including our Army Reserve soldiers in our community.

“The U.S. Army has an important role, whether in times of peace or war, as U.S. strength helps promote security, protect freedoms, and respond when necessary to disasters or aggression. I know Congress is committed to having the best trained and equipped military possible, and I’m humbled to work through my Committee in support of our Veterans. Thank you to all of our Toa o Samoa, and to our military families.”
