Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — All LBJ nurses and their supportive staff received a $200 bonus payment last Friday.
This was confirmed by Acting Chief Executive Officer Dr Akapusi Ledua.
He said the bonus is to acknowledge their sacrifice and dedication in taking care of their patients during the challenging times of the nurse shortage.
“This is possible through the $20,000 donation for nurses from John and Marlene Fotu’aika of JF Tank Services Inc.
“The LBJ Hospital Board of Directors approved to match that donation and top up the amount given to our nurses and their supportive staff. A total of 216 nursing and their support staff are receiving this bonus payment.”
Dr Ledua also acknowledged the hardworking nurses and staff for their services during this difficult time.
“Their sacrifice and commitment can never be valued with dollars. It’s my prayer that they will be richly blessed with peace and prosperity.
“Thanksgiving also goes out to Mr. John and Mrs. Marlene Fotu’aika for their kind donation and recognizing the service and sacrifice of our nurses and their support staff. May God bless them and their business for their kindness and love.
“Lastly I thank our LBJ hospital Board of Directors for approving to match the donation so our nurses can get a little more to share with their children and family.
“To our LBJ nurses and staff, thank you for being faithful to your calling. Your profession is unique and special for your hands are anointed to save lives and comfort others in need. Keep up the good work and remember your Service to those in need is your act of Worship to the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords.”
