Danielle King expresses to Cabinet her gratitude for their support

Mrs Danielle Clemens King

Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — Mrs Danielle Clemens King was present at yesterday’s Cabinet meeting to thank them for their heartfelt messages and support after her family lost their loved one, Port Director Christopher King.

“It’s been very difficult, but what I found and what my family and I realized is that you truly all loved Chris and that was shown through the many phone calls, messages, texts and gifts that my family and I received since his passing,” said Mrs King.

The late Director passed away in November and was laid to rest last month.

“And just as you felt he was important to you; you were important to him. On behalf of the King and Clemens families I just take this opportunity to thank each and everyone of you from the bottom of our hearts for all that you have done and all that you said, because it has brought us an immense deep comfort and I truly saw God through this entire time through each of you,” said Mrs King.

She said with the new year — may it bring peace and healing of the hearts. “Perseverance and resolve to continue to do the work that he did for a better American Samoa and I know you all know Chris worked really hard everyday with his team at the Port and with all of you.”

She also commended the Port Administration for continuing the hard work that her husband was involved in.

Mrs King read a poem by Robert Louis Stevenson that was printed on the late Director’s funeral program.

“The man is a success who has lived well, laughed often, and loved much; who has gained the respect of intelligent men and the love of children; who has filled his niche and accomplished his task; who leaves the world better than he found it, whether by an improved poppy, a perfect poem, or a rescued soul; who never lacked an appreciation of earth’s beauty or failed to express it; who looked for the best in others and gave the best he had.”

Mrs King concluded that their family has provided lunch for each Cabinet member as a token of their appreciation.
