Gov. Lemanu P.S. Mauga

Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — Gov. Lemanu P. S Mauga has publicly thanked electors for turning out to vote in the Nov. 08 Midterm Election and he also expressed appreciation to the community for a peaceful Election Day.

The governor touched briefly on the election, during his Samoan address at the Veterans Sunset Memorial Service last Wednesday evening at the Veterans Memorial Center at the Sen. Daniel Inouye Industrial Park. The service was aired live on state-run KVZK-TV.

Now that the election is over, and voters have spoken, the governor — during in his address called on the community to work together to build a brighter future for American Samoa.

He said voters have made their decision electing members of the local House of Representatives as well as American Samoa’s Delegate to the U.S House of Representatives. And the governor extended best wishes to all candidates elected this year.

For the Constitution referendum, the governor said that electors have made their decision and he expressed thanks to the voters, saying that is how the government will be guided moving forward.

And the decision was made through the “democratic process,” he said.

Lemanu pointed out that the government makes plans from what it sees for the future while the community, through the voters, makes decisions based on their opinions and what they see as a benefit for the territory.

He again thanked voters for assisting the government through the voting process.
