Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — The first annual “Art-Reach” workshops, spearheaded by the local non-profit group, Agency for Better Living Endeavors — or commonly known as A.B.L.E — invites those starting from age 5 and up to sign up for the program.
This series of outreach workshops is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 27 at Utulei Beach and serves as a preamble for celebrations slated for October for the Mosooi Festival in American Samoa.
“We are very grateful to have the opportunity to continue serving our communities through different programs. A.B.L.E. is very blessed to partner with a group of amazing local talented artists that are eager to share the beauty of their respective talents and inspire our young”, said board member Christinna Lutu-Sanchez in a statement.
Led by A.B.L.E. board member Ammon Fepuleai the group of artists will offer the following workshops during Art-Reach:
• Paint with Ammon Fepuleai (ages 5 and up),
• Learn Photography with Marcella Fitisone (ages 12 and up),
• Traditional Dances with Leia Tasi & Charisma Fano (ages 12 and up),
• Samoan la’ei and tuiga fafau with Isabella AhMu Mageo (ages 12 and up).
“Our group of artists are very excited for the upcoming events. We all agreed that it was important to be a part of creating community events for our youth and children amidst all the challenges that we face”, said Fepuleai.
Art- Reach promises a fun day of learning for the young and the old. You can register online through the A.B.L.E. Facebook page. This year’s Art-Reach is made possible through funding by the National Endowment of the Humanities (NEH) American Rescue Plan Act through its local affiliate, American Samoa Humanities Council – American Rescue Plan Act Term grant program.
A.B.L.E is a 501(C)3 non- profit organization founded by High Chief Afoa L. Su’esu’e Lutu in 2004 to provide coordinate services with the mission of improving the lives of our residents.
