Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — U.S. Coast Guard LT Richard Quintana is the new supervisor, Marine Safety Detachment (MSD) American Samoa where he reported in June 2022. In his position, LT Quintana is the direct representative of the Sector Honolulu Commander in executing responsibilities as Captain of the Port, Officer in Charge Marine Inspections, and Federal On-Scene Coordinator in the MSD American Samoa Area of Responsibility.
He oversees all MSD primary missions to include marine inspections, marine investigations, waterfront facility security, and pollution response.
Prior to serving at MSD American Samoa, LT Quintana was the Assistant Supervisor at MSD Port Canaveral, FL where he oversaw all operations and managed a team of active duty and civilian personnel from 2019 to 2022.
Originally born in Havana, Cuba, LT Quintana migrated to the U.S. at the age of 16. He and his wife Amy have one daughter and he enjoys hiking with his family and their two golden retrievers Lucy and Lilly.
