Mother Nature was not in favor of ASG’s dedication of the newly rehabilitated Ofu Airport runway, as strong waves and debris covered both ends of the runway. Thick layers of sand and silt poured onto the runway delaying the government’s plans to dedicate the project. It is unknown if the the Port Administration’s plans for the Ofu runway project, which was allotted $8M, included any plans to protect the runway from its close proximity to the ocean.
