Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — The local Education Department (ASDOE) Office of Student Records Management will begin registration for all new students and returning students from private and off island schools for the new school year 2022-2023 next week Monday, July 18 from 7:30a.m. to 3:30p.m.

Late registration begins on Aug. 22, according to ASDOE, which had previously announced that classroom instructions for the new school year begins on Sept. 6, while public school teachers return to work later next month.

Among the documents required for registration is original birth certificate, immunization records and COVID-19 shot card, immigration clearance and Immigration ID card for new foreign nationals.

Of importance is that students transferring from private and/or off-island schools “must” bring official school records/clearances from previous schools of attendance.

ASDOE has posted on its website and Facebook page specific documents required and other information including requirements for parents and legal guardians of students to be enrolled. Also call Office of Student Records Management at 633-2678 or 633-5729 for more information.

Samoa News reminds parents/guardians that all ASG offices are closed today, July 15, in observance of the Manu’a Cession Day.

Meanwhile, the Health Department reminds parents and guardians of the local requirement for immunization shots for children to attend public and private schools. “Please update your child's vaccines before school starts, and get a flu shot while you're at it! Visit any DOH clinic now,” said DoH in its latest reminder, for it’s “Don’t Wait Vaccinate” back to school vaccination campaign.
