Woman divorces husband while he’s in custody

Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — The High Court granted a petition by a woman to divorce her husband, who is currently in custody due to domestic matters.

The matter was heard before Associate Justice Fiti Sunia last week. Chief Associate Judge Mamea Sala Jr and Tunupopo A. Tunupopo assisted Sunia on the bench.

The woman told the court her husband is living with his new girlfriend and they have been separated since 2019.

The husband, who was also present during the hearing, looked at his wife, and smiled before he left the courtroom.
