Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — Acting ASG Treasurer, Levi Reese announced in a statement Monday this week an extension of the tax filing due dates, as the Tax Office services were suspended and closed to tax payers for the past three-weeks due to the COVID-19 the Emergency Declaration.

As a result, Treasury’s tax office is extending tax filing due dates for the following submissions:

•           Information Returns that were due on Feb. 28 are extended to June 30;

•           Corporate and Partnership Tax Returns due on Mar. 15 are extended to July 15; and

•           Individual Tax Returns, due on Apr. 15 will also be extended to July 15.

“We... remind all taxpayers that the extensions on the due dates are ONLY extension for filing and NOT an extension to pay,” said Reese. “Please ensure to make timely payments to avoid any penalties and interest.”

Treasury had announced last week that that the Tax Office is open from 8a.m to 2p.m daily “only” to receive tax returns and tax payments, while other services offered are suspended momentarily.
