Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — The U.S Department of Transportation has approved for 12-months — from Dec. 9, 2021 to Dec. 9, 2022 — Samoa-based, Talofa Airways’ renewal of its exemption from federal cabotage law to continue operating both scheduled and charter flights, as well as all cargo air transport between Samoa and the U.S. — which is mainly in and out of American Samoa.

The continued exemption includes the airline’s flights between Apia and Pago Pago via Tonga, using small aircraft.

In conducting these flight operations, Talofa Airways may only use aircraft capable of carrying no more than 60 passengers and having a maximum payload capacity of no more than 18,000 pounds, according to USDOT’s approval document.
