Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — The repatriation charter flight via Hawaiian Airlines — the one returning to Honolulu after repat flight #5 — was cancelled yesterday, June 1st and is now schedule to depart around 1:30p.m local time — arriving in Honolulu at 7:42p.m.
A Hawaiian Airlines’ flight advisory distributed this morning says that yesterday’s flight to Honolulu was cancelled due to a “mechanical issue”, and provided information on check in time, at 11a.m today at Pago Pago International Airport.
The charter flight brought about 212 travelers for the ASG repatriation flight #5 yesterday and was supposed to depart in the afternoon. The flight did actually depart but returned less than an hour later.
Responding to Samoa News inquiries, Hawaiian spokesperson Alex Da Silva said from Honolulu before 9a.m. today that the flight — HA912 — returned to Pago Pago “approximately 30 minutes after departure due to a mechanical issue with a landing gear. The flight landed without incident.”
He said once the airline’s team in the territory completes an aircraft inspection, the flight is schedule to depart Pago Pago today, June 2, at 1:30p.m.
ASG officials told Samoa News that the flight crew was housed at the Tradewinds Hotel while passengers scheduled to depart on the charter flight went home and returned for today’s outbound flight.
