Gov appoints Juvenile Justice Advisory Council members

Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — Gov. Lemanu Peleti Palepoi Sialega Mauga, in a memorandum earlier this month, appointed the 30 new members - representing the community, youth, Fono and government — to the Juvenile Justice Advisory Council.

Community members are Monsignor Viane Etuale, Rev. Faletoi Uso, Paster Vicky Haleck, Naomi Galea’i, Ekitoa B. Sopoaga II, Beverly Sunia, Milosia Toia, Herthalina Lutu, Peteru Lam Yuen, Elisaia Solomona, Brenda Foleni, Manino Reed, Fiatunase Asuega-Paaga, TeeJaye Maifea, Saipai Cassens, Faasili Iuli, Doris Malaeaniu Godinet, Crystal Ve’ave’a and Elton Maugalei.

Youth members are Jude Supapo, Amaryl Hollister, Sipaia Sipaia, Josiah Siliva, Avery Maloata, and Grace T. Faumuina.

Representing the Legislature is Rep. Larry S. Sanitoa and the four government members are David Bird, Palemene Fagaima, Cpt. Savelio Vaofanua and Sandra Fruean.

According to the governor, the Council selects the chairman from among its members and the term of office is two years, effective Mar. 9, 2021 and ending Mar. 8, 2023.

The governor’s appointments are pursuant to local law and the federal Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Act of 2018 as amended. The ASG Criminal Justice Planning Agency is the State Planning Agency for the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Act.
