Weather Service: No tropical storms or hurricanes to reach American Samoa through early next week

Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — The National Weather Service Pago Pago is continuing to monitor our region especially late next week and into the second half of February as we are in the peak of hurricane season. Even though tropical activity is currently well to the west of American Samoa, no tropical storms or hurricanes will reach the territory through early next week.

Tropical Organization Summary; through the weekend

An area of tropical convection (91P); is currently located around 1800 miles west of American Samoa. Based on current data and trends, 91P is forecast to drift southward during the weekend.

A second area of tropical convection will linger ~800 miles west of American Samoa through the weekend.
