No threat to American Samoa by tropical disturbance south of Manu'a

Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — The Tropical Disturbance 05F recently classified by the Fiji Meteorological Service, also referred to as Invest 96P, just to the south of Manu'a will continue to move away from American Samoa. There is no threat of a tropical storm, hurricane, or tropical cyclone to American Samoa from this disturbance.

TD 05F is moving southeast away from American Samoa.  It will not intensify to a Tropical Storm, nor a Tropical Cyclone over American Samoa

Scattered showers will continue for Tutuila and Aunu'u while the numerous showers over Manu'a will become scattered later in the day. The chance of showers will reduced to isolated this weekend with a mix of sun and clouds forecast throughout the territory.

TONGA MET SAYS

“The system is expected to intensify over the next two days and move south to Niue or further southeast. The potential for this system to bring damaging gale force winds to Niuatoputapu in the next 24hrs is low.

“The Tonga Met Service is closely monitoring the development of this system. Citizens and Residence are encouraged to keep following the weather forecasts in the next couple days.”
