ASNOC looking for Commission members with strong leadership skills

The American Samoa National Olympic Committee (ASNOC) is hosting a meeting today at 5 p.m. at Matai Restaurant in Nuuuli for those considering being a part of the ASNOC marketing/ events commission.

ASNOC secretary general Ethan Lake said he has already received a couple of positive responses; however, there is a need for those with strong leadership and support for sports in the community.

"We really need good community role models to be a part of the ASNOC marketing/ events commission," he said, adding that they are looking for a minimum of 5 active community members to get things started in the right direction, although they'd like to have "even more from the community."

According to Lake, "This commission has the potential to really make a difference in the community with access to over $300,000 in grant funds each year from Olympic Solidarity."

Those who are interested in being a member of the Commission are invited to tonight's meeting.

Lake said the next major event that will be discussed and planned during tonight's get together is the 2017 ASNOC Awards Gala set for January 2018. "This will also include our first Sports Hall of Fame inductees."
