Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — LBJ Hospital Administration, Board of Directors and staff welcomed their health care partner, the Shriners Children- Hawaii to American Samoa on Thursday afternoon October 19, 2023.
This is one of their Bi-Annual Outreach visits to see and follow up their Orthopedic patients in the Territory.
They’ve seen new cases plus those on follow up appointments, according to LBJ CEO Dr Akapusi Ledua. “We’ve been working together with Shriners Children in Hawaii for more than 30 years now and they have been doing this voluntary service for our community, all these years.”
Dr Ledua said LBJ is happy to see them back to provide their service, to the Pediatric Orthopedic patients. “They started here on Tuesday (this week), until Monday next week. the Shriners Team this time includes Dr Craig Ono, Dr Richard Haynes and Dr Hanna Imlay.
The team is calling to those Orthopedic patients who have been seen by Shriners in the past to come down to the hospital, and take advantage of the doctors — Friday and Monday.
LBJ’s Dr Ledua is also inviting parents who have children with Orthopedic problems, in the bones, muscles, joints, and spine, to contact the Orthopedic clinic at LBJ 633-1222 Extension 310, to schedule a time to be seen by the specialist.
The Shriners children team from Hawaii is here for the first time after the COVID-19 pandemic, arriving on Monday.
A press conference was held on Thursday morning to formally welcome the team to the Territory.
