Tropical Disturbance moving away from territory and is no threat

Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — The low pressure system that is now northwest of American Samoa is now classified as Tropical Disturbance TD01F/Invest 90P. However, this disturbance is not expected to develop into a tropical storm for at least another 48 hours.

There is no threat to American Samoa from this disturbance as it moves away from the Territory.

Even though we may have breezy weather and rain at times today, conditions are forecast to gradually improve throughout the day. Winds won’t be as strong compared to yesterday, high seas in the morning are expected to ease throughout the day, and frequent showers are forecast to become numerous showers.

Winds Advisory remains in effect through Tuesday morning.

High Surf Advisory remains in effect through Tuesday afternoon.

Small Craft Advisory remains in effect through Tuesday afternoon.

Flash Flood Watch remains in effect through Tuesday.

TONIGHT THROUGH WEDNESDAY NIGHT

.A weak surface low near Upolu and Savaii continues to move west. Strong and gusty northeast winds associated with the low to the east northeast of Manu`a will sweep across the territory late this afternoon and tonight.

As the weak low moves farther west, winds will diminish to breezy flow on Tuesday. Winds will continue to diminish to gentle flow on Tuesday night. Stable weather will move across the islands and suppress showers through Wednesday night. Winds will become light and variable on Wednesday night.

A low level circulation will develop north northwest of Fiji on Wednesday night. This will not impact the Samoan islands as it is projected to move southwest towards New Caledonia.

THURSDAY THROUGH MONDAY

Stable weather will persist through Friday night. A ride will build to the southeast on Saturday and hence usher in gentle northeast winds. Moisture from the northeast will increase showers to numerous on Saturday through Monday.
