Tax refunds totaling more than $1.35mil released

Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — Local residents seen early yesterday afternoon lined-up outside the disbursing window on the first floor of the A.P. Lutali Executive Office Building in Utulei, where Batch #9, totaling more than $1.35 million in tax returns were distributed.

In a brief statement, ASG Treasurer Uelinitone Tonumaipea said yesterday’s tax refunds were for those who filed taxes between Mar. 8 and Mar 23.

Of the total run, $558,502 is for local and $797,291 is for the Additional Child Tax Credit, which is funded by the US Internal Revenue Service.

To assist taxpayers with tracking refunds, Treasury reminds tax filers to keep in mind their filing dates, as refund checks are disbursed accordingly.
