Pago Pago, American Samoa — The ASGERF Members Association (AMA) announced that it has been officially incorporated with the American Samoa Government Registrar’s Office, establishing AMA as a legally recognized, member-based association representing members and beneficiaries of the American Samoa Government Employees’ Retirement Fund (ASGERF).

AMA was formed to promote good governance, transparency, fiduciary accountability, and long-term retirement security for ASGERF members. In carrying out this mission, the Association also recognizes that broader social and economic conditions—including fiscal policy, cost-of-living pressures, and public-sector sustainability—can indirectly affect the retirement security and overall well-being of ASGERF members and their families.

Membership in AMA is open to active employees, retirees, non-active or vested members, and ASGERF beneficiaries.

Main Goals of AMA — O Fa‘amoemoe Autū o le AMA

• Transparency — Fa‘amanino fa‘auiga e puipui ma tausi ai penefiti

• Awareness — Fa‘ailoa fa‘alauiloa tele aia, galuega, ma le tausiga o penefiti

AMA also announced that it will hold its First Annual General Meeting on January 10, 2026, with the location and time to be announced.

“This incorporation marks an important step forward,” said Vaitinasa S. Hunkin-Finau, Interim Chairwoman of the Board of the ASGERF Members Association.

“AMA now has a legal voice and a formal structure to engage constructively on issues that directly — and indirectly — affect the retirement security of thousands of families. Our goal is simple: informed members, sound governance, and a sustainable future for the Fund.”

AMA emphasized that it is non-partisan, independent, and member-driven, and exists solely to advance the interests of ASGERF members and beneficiaries, while encouraging informed dialogue on issues that bear on the long-term stability of the retirement system.

Further information regarding membership enrollment and meeting details will be released in the coming weeks.
