Plea for help for new born infant who lost his mother

LBJ HOSPITAL

Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — A plea had been made from three individuals, for a days-old infant, who lost his mother during the birth. They are appealing for breast milk from nursing-moms as well as financial donations to help the father deal with the family tragedy.

Information posted on the GoFundMe page for “Bay John Malubay” says that the infant was born at 34 weeks on June 23 due to his 33-year-old mom Cristina Malubay, who was rushed for an emergency C-section due to a Placenta Previa.

Baby Malubay is currently at the NICU at LBJ Medical Center and is expected to be there for another month.

“Baby Malubay needs your help and this very trying time, especially not having the warmth, and hugs of his mom to nurture him. Baby Malubay needs breast milk to help with his development,” the message states.

“Please if we have any moms out there that are willing to donate their breast milk, please donate to baby John Malubay at the LBJ Hospital,” it says.

And a GoFundMe account has also been set up for financial donations to help Mr. Malubay, who now will care for the couple’s six children. “Faced with hospital fees for baby Malubay, funeral arrangements for his loving wife, and providing for his 6 children and this very moment is very hard,” the message states.

“Kindly asking for any financial donation to help this Malubay family will be appreciated beyond measure and even if you can’t donate please remember the Malubay family in your prayers and continue to share this,” it says.

To donate, go to GoFundMe and search under Baby John Malubay and Mom Cristina Malubay.

As of Thursday morning, about $2,455 had been raised of the $5,000 goal, in the GoFundMe account.
