Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — Successful beautification projects in Pago Pago village that are geared to not only spruce up the village but also to use the youth of the village to provide manpower to keep them away from the influence of drugs, got a boost this week from the Criminal Justice and Planning Agency (CJPA).
The evening of Tuesday, January 23, 2024, CJPA Director Mariana Timu Faiai presented Faipule Vesiai Poyer Samuelu and Pago Pago village with wheelbarrows, weed eaters, blowers, rakes, shovels, gas cans and basketballs.
Additionally, flashlights were also provided, which is perfect for the “uaki” Sa in the evenings daily, which the faipule always attends.
Faiai said that on behalf of Governor Lemanu P.S. Mauga and the Administration the supplies presented are to help the village of Pago Pago with their clean-up efforts.
The CJPA director recognized the efforts of Faipule Vesiai in requesting assistance through their grant program to provide the supplies for the village efforts of beautification as well as keeping the village clean.
Vesiai on behalf of Paramount Chief Mauga Tasi Asuega and the Village Council, thanked the Director for this tremendous donation saying he is “confident that the Pago Aumaga as well as the various church autalavou will render the needed manpower in this effort.”
At the presentation were Village Matai and Matai Taulealea of the Pago Pago Aumaga who were all very happy and grateful to the CJPA for the tremendous donation of equipment that will certainly be put to good use by the village of Pago Pago.
