New Olomoana access road meant to ensure safer travel

repair of an existing two-lane asphalt road

Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — Department of Public Works construction of the Olomoana access road was dedicated on Tuesday, Sept. 24.

The project included paving an access road to repair an existing two-lane asphalt road that was 20 feet wide, with a total length of seven thousand six hundred twenty linear feet (7,620 feet), and the installation finished with double yellow center pavement markings. The contract timeline for completing this project was 90 calendar days.

Governor Lemanu P.S. Mauga expressed appreciation to the government agencies, private contractors, and Aoa village for their contributions that made the successful completion of this project possible.

The Director of Public Works, Faleosina Voigt said the project was contracted to Paramount Builders Incorporated. The Project Management Team included the Civil Highway Division of the Department of Public Works, under the supervision of both Chief Engineers Dympna Pangilinan and Uaealesi D. Sipelii.

The road improvement projects are funded by the U.S Department of Interior, Office of Insular Affairs with the original contract amount of $871,180.00

Eucharist Apolina Tovia had the honor of cutting the ribbon for the new access road.

Samoan Affairs right-of-way agent, Ta'amu Vaigafa Iakopo served as the Master of Ceremonies, welcoming the special guests in attendance. The ceremony began with an opening prayer led by Eucharist Apolina Tovia from the Catholic Church of Aoa and concluded with a Benediction from Reverend Tafu Afusia of Satauro o le Alofa-CCCAS Aoa.
