Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — Through a May 27th memorandum, Gov. Lemanu Peleti Palepoi Sialega Mauga has expanded the government Compliance Review Committee, with the appointment of three new members: Education director Talauega Dr. Samasoni Asaeli; Human and Social Service director, Muavaefa’atasi John Suisala; and American Samoa Economic Development Authority executive director Blanche Barber.
According to the governor, the committee membership is based on the current positions they hold and if a member is unable to attend, they must designate a representative to act on their behalf.
Lemanu also said that all department directors, office and agency heads are required to cooperate with the committee “to maintain transparency and integrity of the government”.
Among the duties and responsibilities of the committee — as amended through previous memos by the governor — is to review all expenses related to COVID-19 funds allocated to American Samoa, review employment actions and contact from Jan. 1, 2019 until a date to be determined and review all actions on leases that the government has entered into or amended over the same time period.
