Money found on a fishing boat sparks police investigation

Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — The Department of Public Safety (DPS) is investigating a case involving a substantial amount of cash that was uncovered during a routine inspection of a vessel that is based in American Samoa but was returning from a quick run to independent Samoa last week Wednesday.

Samoa News understands that on board the longliner was a hefty amount of cash — much more than what the average person would carry — and this is what sparked suspicions.

Samoa News was able to confirm that the amount was not $100,000 as rumors have it.
