Miss SOFIAS 2019-2020 is Vanessa Taamu Simanu

Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — Vanessa Taamu Simanu was crowned Miss SOFIAS 2019-2020 before a sold out crowd last Friday, April 26 at Fatuoaiga Hall.

Vanessa won the majority of special awards that night, including "Best Lady SOFIAS" and "Miss Photogenic".

The event was filled with laughter, glitz, and glamour, as the 5 contestants gave everyone a show they'll never forget.

First runner up was Cece Mahina Iavai of Aua, the lead hairstylist at Le Fofo Spa in Nuuuli. Cece won the "Best Interview" category and also the "Best Swimwear".

Second runner up was Dezonikah Michaels who won "Best Evening Gown" and was named "Miss Congeniality".

Third runner up was the bubbly Ms. Micay Mileena De La Cruz who won "Best Talent". Micay is Filipino, the only non-Samoan contestant this year. She also won "Best PSA Presentation."

Fourth runner up was Ms. Aruni Talaifaga.

Entertainment was provided by DJ Ray and special guests from Samoa: Dr. Rome, Benhuro, Uso Mikey, and Shorty Kap.
