May 6-10 is Teacher Appreciation Week

Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — In a moving statement honoring Am Samoa Teachers, Gov. Lemanu P.S. Mauga said the dedication of teachers to our children's education is truly remarkable. Their role transcends mere instruction; it encompasses mentorship, guidance, and support, ensuring that every student feels seen, heard, and valued. Beyond the confines of the school day, a teacher's influence resonates in the lives of their students, igniting hopes and dreams, shaping futures, and leaving a lasting imprint on hearts and minds.

Their work is never truly done; it is a lifelong journey of passion, purpose, and profound significance. Through their guidance, our youth are equipped with the tools and inspiration to thrive in an ever-evolving world.

“As we celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week, I find myself reflecting on the profound impact my own teachers have had on shaping my life's journey. This reflection only strengthens my appreciation for the pivotal role teachers play in molding the future of our beloved Territory.

“On behalf of Lieutenant Governor La'apui, our families, and the entire American Samoa community, we extend our sincerest Fa'afetai Tele Lava to each and every one of you for bearing the immense responsibility of nurturing the next generation of leaders. We sincerely thank you for your commitment, empathy, and belief in the transformational power of education.”

Happy Teacher Appreciation Week!
