Man calls cops on daughter after alleged violence and profanity

Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — On December 5, 2023, Vaioa To’oalo was arrested for disturbing the peace at her home, in Nuuuli.

She is charged with one count of Public Peace Disturbance (DV), a class B misdemeanor, punishable by imprisonment for up to six (6) months, a fine of $500, or both.

According to the affidavit, on December 5, 2023, a man from Nuuuli contacted the Tafuna Police Substation (TPS) regarding his daughter. He reported that his daughter (defendant) was being violent and disturbing the peace by shouting profanity towards their neighbors,while in their home.

Upon arrival, police officers approached the reporter, To’oalo’s father, and observed the defendant walking back to her residence in Nu'uuli. Police officers apprehended the defendant and placed her in the police unit to prevent further incidents between her and her family.

The affidavit further stated that the officers met with the father and he briefed them about what had happened.

The victim alleged that “he believed that the defendant is on drugs because he advised her of being a troublemaker in their family everyday.”

He said that the defendant allegedly started being violent and shouting profanities in their home towards the neighbors; and heir neighbors were alarmed and came out to try and calm the defendant down but she refused to stop.

The father admitted that he is concerned for him and his wife’s safety because he claims this is not the first time this daughter has done this. He stated that she was “too violent and his wife felt threatened by their daughter causing trouble in the family.”

A witness was also interviewed at the scene and according to the witness, “the defendant was too violent in their home and their neighborhood when her father gave advice.”

The daughter was Mirandized and agreed to make a statement.

In a verbal statement, Ms To’oalo told police “she didn’t shout profanity towards her parents; she only shouted profanity to her cousins who lived in the house next to them.”

To’oalo was booked and confined at the Tafuna Correctional Facility to await the next sitting of the District Court.

The defendant is identified as a U. S National.
